Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College asked us to supply a Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) to cover the basketball courts. The structural steel shelter we provided ensures maximum use of the courts, protected from the elements while still having plenty of airflow.
The priority for this school COLA shelter was to create a large and spacious covered environment for students to learn and play. The client wanted to make the most of the sports courts by providing shelter from the harsh sun and rain.
The COLA Shelter was to be built over existing courts making the delivery and erection process a challenge to overcome.
The ABC Sheds team delivered a large Covered Outdoor Learning Area measuring 38m by 38m. The 5-bay COLA shelter's height is 6.7m, allowing plenty of room for sports courts and equipment, such as netball and basketball hoops. Each bay is 7.6 metres wide, with open sides enabling easy access and plenty of ventilation.
The clear-span structure offers exceptional flexibility, providing open and unobstructed space for both sports and education. The trusses are high up and out of the way, eliminating the risk of injury or interference.

"I wanted to express my extreme gratitude and how absolutely impressed I am with your team. They are a well-oiled machine, working meticulously and are so approachable. Thank you too, for your regular updates and communication - it is very much appreciated, I could not be happier with the process of everything so far.”
